g-Prox® EZ-33 Endoscopic Grasper
The g-Prox® is a multi-function instrument essential to many aspects of incisionless surgery. It can be used as an aggressive endoscopic tissue grasper and as a needle driver to deliver Snowshoe Suture Anchors™. The flexible g-Prox is delivered to the operative site through a lumen of the TransPort®. Even though it is flexible, the device is constructed with a robust body that accurately conveys torque and the forces necessary for incisionless surgical tasks. Moreover, the g-Prox tissue approximation device allows the delivery of the Snowshoe Suture Anchors that provide knot strength without the difficulty of endoscopic suture tying. Each anchor pair is preloaded into a catheter (g-Cath™), and inserted into the g-Prox before firing.
Once the operative site is accessed, the g-Prox can be loaded and reloaded with g-Caths without withdrawing or repositioning the instrument. This saves valuable operating time and eliminates the impact of repeated intubations upon the patient. Then, for enhanced safety, the jaws of the grasper close at a 45° angle as the g-Cath needle is fired, enabling full visualization of the tissue as the needle is passed. The jaws of the g-Prox are specially designed to work endolumenally, where a thick layer of mucosa can interfere with a tissue handling. The jaw pattern maximizes the security of the tissue bite during suturing while minimizing unwanted tissue trauma.
